Colin Calderwood

After a couple of weeks of  'will he, won't he' speculation Colin Calderwood was finally appointed the new Forest manager on May 30, 2006.

Forest had been in a tug of war contest with managerless Ipswich Town for the services of the 41-year-old former Scottish international defender who has signed a three-year deal to lead Forest.

Calderwood has carved out an impressive reputation for himself since entering the world of management with Northampton in 2003, leading them to play-off appearances in successive campaigns, he finally guided Northampton to automatic promotion to League One last season.

He cut short a family holiday in Dubai to fly back to England for talks with Forest Chairman Nigel Doughty after The Reds were given permission to approach him by Northampton.

As a player, Calderwood had a spell with Forest between 2000 and 2001 and was a key figure for Mansfield, Swindon, Tottenham and Aston Villa, in a career spanning over 700 games and 36 caps for Scotland.
