Harry Hallam, like his predecessor, Harry Radford, was never really the manager of Forest. His official title was Secretary.

Hallam learned a lot from Radford before taking over from him in 1897, including the sense of urgency, tactical developments and player recruitment.

It was the skills he learned from Radford that helped him put together the F.A. Cup winning team of 1897-98. The first time in the club's history they had won the trophy, beating Derby County 3-1 in the final at Crystal Palace.

He didn't rest on his laurels after the F.A. Cup win either, and in 1905 Hallam organized the trip to Argentina and Uraguay, which he saw as both pioneering and financially rewarding.

It's a shame the managers that would follow the two Harrys didn't have the same attitude and foresight, things could have been very different if they had.
