Well, it wasn’t pretty and it certainly wasn’t a classic, but Forest put in a good evening’s work to come away from Milton Keynes with a 1-0 victory and most importantly, all three points.
Starting brightly, Forest took the lead in the third minute as Gareth Taylor pounced on the ball after Wimbledon ‘keeper, Steve Banks saved Andy Reid’s shot.
Taylor got his head to the ball and directed his header to the far corner where it managed to roll over the line.
It wasn’t the best goal he’ll ever score, but it could prove to be one of the more important.
Forest continued to outplay a young and inexperienced Dons side, taking control in midfield and feeding balls to Taylor and King, both causing problems for the Wimbledon defence.
But at the end of the day, Forest’s experience proved too much for the Don’s, and they ran out deserving winners.
