Forest 3 - 1 Swindon

Anyone who studies the League table would not have been expecting a classic encounter at The City Ground today, but even they must have been surprised at how drab it turned out to be. Apart from a 15 minute spell in the first half, this must rank as the worst spectacle so far this season, a fact emphasised by the almost complete lack of atmosphere in the ground, despite a very creditable turnout of almost 20 thousand.

Forest 's goals all arrived during the afore -mentioned 15 minute spell. After 32 minutes a speculative cross by Rogers somehow deceived Talia in the Swindon goal and curled into the back of the net to put the Reds ahead. 4 minutes later and it was two. Talia went walkabout and in the confusion that followed Lester was upended in the box and the Bartman coolly converted the resulting penalty.

The points were sealed after 42 minutes. A pinpoint cross from Prutton found Freedman at the back post and his header found the back of the net to make it 3-0.

We all expected more goals from Forest in the second half, but they were never at the races, and it was Swindon who got the only goal of the half when Johnson conceded a penalty after 52 minutes, which was easily converted by Hay.

So, 3 wins from 4 games paints a slightly better picture for Forest, but no-one who was at the game today will be under any illusion. With better opposition set to visit The City Ground soon, we will need to do a lot better than this if we are to maintain the gap between ourselves and our fellow strugglers.
