A late Andy Reid goal gave Forest a much-deserved equaliser and a share of the points at Vicarage Road this afternoon. And though Forest may not be winning the moment, their character was very much in evidence as they fought back.
Watford made the brighter start but failed to create much as Forest defended with discipline in lack-lustre first half.
And it was Forest, through Gareth Taylor, who had the best chance on 34 minutes, but he could only fire over from close range as Gregor Robertsons cross caused confusion in the Watford defence.
Then just before the break Paul Devlin had the chance to put the Hornets in front, but his volley was too high and sailed over the bar.
Forest changed the pace for the second half and Taylor again had the chance to break the deadlock, but he could only head wide as Bopp set him up in front of an unguarded net.
They came close again as Gareth Williams ran through on to Marlon Kings ball. But Pidgeley managed to force the ball round the post for a corner.
Then on 72 minutes Watford finally got the breakthrough, when Paul Devlin fired in a great cross which Fitzgerald headed home.
Eugen Bopp fired wide as the Reds went in search of an equalizer, but in the final two minutes, he sent over a superb cross from the right and Andy Reid was on hand to score a rare headed goal.
