Forest slipped to fourth from bottom today after losing 1-0 to Sunderland at the Stadium of light.
Despite dominating for long periods of the game, Forest lacked firepower up front and their best chance of the game came in the opening five minutes when Gareth Williams fired in a sweet volley.
The shot had Sunderland ‘keeper Mart Poom beaten all the way, but the woodwork saved the Black Cats and kept them in the game.
Sunderland then had a goal disallowed on 13 minutes as Arca’s indirect free kick curled into the net. The linesman signalling that the ball had not made contact with any other player.
Sunderland finally opened the scoring on 38 minutes. It came as Ward made a good save from Stewart, but Arca was in the right place as the ball rebounded to the edge of the area, and his shot screamed into the now empty net.
Forest continued to dominate, and despite some dodgy defending from Sunderland they couldn’t make their domination pay.
