By car:
From South: Keep on A1 (Gateshead Western By-pass). Exit A1 at junction s/p A189 Newcastle, Gateshead. Follow signs to A189 Newcastle for 1.2 miles, keeping in right hand lane to cross River Tyne on New Redheugh Bridge. Get in lane for A189 City Centre, straight on into Blenheim Street. Straight over first crossroads (s/p Motorway A167(M), City Centre A186) and the second after 0.2 miles (s/p St James' Park, Ashington A189). At T-junction after 0.1 miles turn left into Bath Lane. To ground and city centre parking, take 1st right turn into Corporation Street. For Barrack Road parking, go straight on - take 2nd exit at roundabout after 0.3 miles. Turn right after 0.4 miles (s/p Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, TA Centre) for parking.
From North: Exit A1 at s/p Jedburgh A696, City Centre A167. At roundabout take 1st exit (s/p City Centre A167) into Ponteland Road dual carriageway. Straight on for 1.2 miles, over three roundabouts following signs to City Centre A167. At 4th roundabout, by Safeways, turn left (s/p City Centre, Ashington A189) onto Jedburgh Road (A167). Take 1st exit after 0.5 miles (s/p City West, City North A187, Ashington A189, also St James' Park). Turn right at roundabout (s/p City West A189, Gateshead), over A167, and straight over 2nd roundabout (s/p City West A189, Gateshead) onto Grandstand Road. All traffic turns left after 0.2 miles (s/p City Centre) onto the A189 Ponteland Road. Straight on for 0.6 miles, over Fenham Hall Drive roundabout and over lights by BBC North, then turn left (s/p Regional Blood Transfusion Centre) for away parking. For ground and city centre, keep on main road and take 1st exit at roundabout.

By rail:
From Metro Station: There's a station, St James', by the ground. It's at the home end, so away fans have to walk round the ground to their turnstiles.
From Railway Station (Newcastle): 0.5 miles, and one stop on the metro to St James'.
By foot from the station: Cross road in front of station and walk down alley (Pink Lane) between the Baker's Oven and the Gent's Hairdressers, passing the Forth Hotel pub on right hand side. Cross Clayton Street West back into the alley (Pink Lane continued) which leads to Westgate Road. Turn left, and then right at lights into Bath Lane to ground. On big match days, for safety reasons, it's best to keep to the main routes... right into Bewick Street (the next turning after Pink Lane), right into Clayton Street, left into Westgate.

By bus:
There are dozens of buses which stop at Gallowgate. A sample selection are: Busways bus nos. 39, 40, 62, 63, 87 and 88.
Blue Bus nos. 75, 76, 77 and 78.
Northumbria and Cumberland Motor Services bus no. 685.
If you see a bus, simply ask the driver if he goes to Gallowgate - the answer is invariably yes.

Trouble Factor:
The ground itself is very safe, however, outside of the ground can be very intimidating on big match days. Keep colours covered up till well inside the ground.

Car Parking:
Parking for away fans is by the Blood Transfusion Centre in Barrack Road (see directions by car).
There is also off-street parking, though it's not particularly safe - try Stanhope Street or Corporation Street.
A better alternative is to park in the city centre multi-storey car parks, which are well sign-posted. Nearest the ground are Eldon Square and Greenmarket.

Pubs:
Pubs round the ground tend to be home team only. A walk doen to the Bigg Market area should prove the better option for thirsty fans and there is no shortage of bars or eateries.

Food:
Usual collection of mobile hot dog and fast food stalls appear around the ground on match days.
