Philip Soar first saw Nottingham Forest as a schoolboy in 1954. From that point he was hooked.

An original member of the Bridgford Consortium which took control of Forest in 1997. The Bridgford Consortium also included Nina Gardina, Irving Scholar, Julian Markham and Nigel Wray.

He is an avid football fan and collector of football related memorabilia. He is also the official historian of both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur Football Clubs and his Encyclopedia of British Football, first printed in 1974, and reprinted many times since, is one of the best selling football books ever written.

He is a director of several publishing companies and in 1998 he wrote The Official History of Nottingham Forest to commemorate the centenary of the opening of the City Ground on September 3 1898.
